Anna Hansen is sorting out her attic when she finds Emelia, the beloved
doll that was given to her by her grandparents for a special Christmas
in Denmark back in 1937. When her daughter (also called Emelia) finds
out how much her mother loves the old toy, she decides to get her repaired
as a special birthday gift. But this is no ordinary doll, as it holds
papers containing secret information about Hitler's supporters, members
of a secret society that might still be active today. Suddenly, the Hansens
are in danger
En Dukke is sure to appeal to young readers (or anybody else) who are
looking for a novel with a more adult plot but are not after blood and
guts, psychological insights or a lot of subplots. This is a simple but
exciting and well-paced tale with a young heroine and her boyfriend who
are not sure whether they are ready for a relationship but find themselves
thrown together to avert the villains. A good, old-fashioned thriller
which can be read in one gulp, but which may well stay in your mind afterwards.
