Zombie-Loan - Book I
by Peach-Pit
Michiru Kita is a daydreamer who tends to be on the edge of friendships and at others’ beck and call. While
fetching lunch in the school canteen for some "friends" she collides with two boys. It is then that she spots
strange rings around their necks, and later she learns that not long ago they survived a terrible accident.
Trying to help, she just ends up getting deeper in trouble when she discovers they have already accepted help of
another kind, and now have to pay back a rather unusual loan.
Peach-Pit is the name of two mangaku, Banri Sendou and Shibuko Ebara. This is a departure from their usual
style, and shows that they can write with dash and produce drawings in a style with plenty of movement and a
certain dark style. Fans of Buffy and similar tales will enjoy this story of supernatural bargains, which
certainly left me wondering what was going to happen next. It is a story that kept me guessing, turning the
pages late into the night to find out how it ends... but in true manga style, this is just the first book in the
series. Different and exciting, with some particularly impressive illustrations. |
