Warenna’s family has hidden a secret from her all her life. They appear to be a nice normal
family until they are attacked by an insane vampire and critically injured. It is then that
Warenna discovers her true self. Her family is cursed and she is a vampire.
Because Warenna has not fallen prey to the infection raging in her blood she is called an
orphan and must go to live with other orphans who are lead by the Goddess Zera.
Warenna soon finds herself helping the elders cleanse the remaining orphans to keep them
as human as possible. Warenna also must help the elders rid the world of the "true" vampires.
All this while trying to remain the typical 16 year old: go to school, avoid sun
"poisoning" and develop a crush on a cute boy at school, Thomas.
Warenna soon discovers that Thomas has secrets of his own that affect the orphans as well.
I have noticed a big upswing in good versus evil vampire novels since Stephanie Meyers hit
the best seller list with her Twilight series. Patrick Vaughn and Lee Emory are making a good
entrance with their Curse series.
The Curse series is different enough to draw its own fans and should have a long run as
The Allure of the Curse is second in a predicted series of seven.
Although billed as young adult the book is complex enough to attract adults as well.
