Taken by Storm

by Angela Morrison

This book is written in a unique style that makes it a bit hard to follow, and though it’s graphic and descriptive, you have to pay attention to all of the words in order to get the drift.  Not sure it’s the best way to write a book for teens.

I wanted to give it the Teen Test, so I asked my step-daughter, who is almost 17, to read it for me.  She loves to read and is very fast.  She made two attempts at getting the gist of the storyline, but fell short both times she tried and she didn't continue reading it.

So I gave it a shot. The story is well written, the characters are very passionate and you feel what they are feeling.  Let's face it, being a teen is hard enough.  When you add romance, sex, and the fact that the person you have your sights set on is not of your own religion, things will not go well for either of you.  This story is moving, inspirational and direct.  Teens have choices to make in their daily lives that adults wish they didn't have to face, but that is their life.  Kids grow up into adults and if we don't give them the option to live a little bit, then what kind of adults will they grow up to be?

This book tells a great story and it is told in a very different way.  Not my choice, but I applaud the writer for her unique writing style.
