Tenth Grade Bleeds
The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod (#3)

by Heather Brewer

Vladimir Tod is back, and the boy who is half vampire is having another difficult year at Bathory High.  Remember that Vlad had bitten his best friend, Henry, when they were much younger, and that made Henry his drudge, or literally, his slave.  Henry must do everything that Vlad asks of him, and now, Henry wants to be released from that bond.

Vlad is in love with Meredith, and that sneaky little twerp, Eddie, is following Vlad around with his camera, trying to prove his theory that Vlad is a vampire.  The vampire Ignatius has plans to destroy Vlad once and for all.  If all that is not enough, Uncle Otis is leaving and Vlad is very distressed. Then when Vlad learns that the vicious and depraved vampire D'Ablo is searching for the ritual that could steal Vlad's power as the Pravus, the future supreme leader of the vampires and in fact, all mankind as well, the action kicks into high gear.

Heather Brewer keeps the tension high in this third book of the series, and kept me turning the pages and trying to guess what could possibly happen next.  The series should be read in sequence, but this could be read as a stand-alone book. The characters are very well developed, with a multi-level plot and fast action.  Vampire stories remain high on the young adult bestseller lists, and Brewer's series about Vladimir Tod is fresh and witty, with plenty of gory blood and violence.
