Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue
Knights of Arrethtrae, Book 4

by Chuck Black

In his series, “The Knights of Arrethtrae,” Chuck Black has created an allegory of the Christian life that is based on the Bible and includes a study section at the end of each book that challenges adults and teens alike. These books should be read by older adults as well as young adults.

In this story, a young girl is told, along with her family, the story of the good King that rules the Land Across the Sea. Carliss believed the story and became Lady Carliss, Knight of the Prince. She is now charged with carrying the story across Arrethtrae, recruiting and training young knights and freeing the land from the rule of Lucius, the Dark Knight, and his Shadow Warriors. Though she is not a Silent Warrior, she has been given an assignment that will bring her into contact with them.

A fellow knight is bitten by a strange lizard and is dying from the poison. There is an antidote for the poison, but it lies in the swamp near the city of Moorue. Carliss has nine days from the time Dalton’s tremors stop to go to the swamp, find the flower and return with it before Dalton dies.

“Lady Carliss and the Waters of Moorue” is a beautifully written book, a story of faith’s triumph. Though these battles are fought with swords and staves, it is a reminder of what believers have gone through in the past. The war Christians fight is the same war, for our spiritual lives. No matter if you’re fifteen or fifty, read this series of books. Answer the questions at the end of the book. There is something you can learn in every story. While you learn, you can also enjoy a good story.`
