Ana Parker is from a seriously dysfunctional family -- her father is a vampire prince and her mother is the local queen of the witches. Since both groups hate each other, family harmony is unlikely. Add the normal teen angst of boyfriend confusion (Ana seems to have three -- one of which is a vampire hunter.)

In this third book in the series, Ana's past choices are producing present problems. The vampires are in need of a hunt to survive. Unfortunately, a hunt requires the death of a witch. Ana just wants everyone to get along so she can have a nice normal teen romance with someone! The teen protagonist of this book can be more than a little dense and whiny but she comes through in the clutch. The collection of gorgeous young men who adore her no matter what are pure teen-girl fantasy that is sure to appeal to the target reader.

For anyone who isn't too weary of the teen vampire novel genre, this is actually a very nice addition. Though a bit whiny, Ana isn't clinically depressed. Though a little controlling, none of the magical boyfriends manage to be creepy. And no one sparkles. Plus, the book keeps a nice lively pace and there are spots of laugh-out-loud humor (especially since vampires in this world like to hang out naked, which Ana finds more than a little "ewwwww"). So if you're looking for a tasty teen vampire snack -- you'll be glad to sink your teeth into the Vampire Princess books.
