Meena Harper's
special gift, the ability to predict when a person will die, has
attracted the attention of the Vatican. More accurately, she has
raised a few eyebrows at the Palatine, a secret military unit that
guards humans from demon possession, and the powers that be want
Meena to come to work for them.
Joining the
Palatine's new unit in lower Manhattan (God knows there are plenty
of folks in need of saving in NYC!), Meena will give her new employers
an advantage over their "undead" enemy. But when dozens
of tourists begin disappearing on the island, it becomes obvious
that something really bad is happening either here in the city or
across the river in New Jersey.
Meena's ex-boyfriend,
Lucien Antonescu, the son of Dracula, gets the blame for the bad
stuff happening, but Meena doesn't believe it for a second. She's
prone to believe it might have something to do with the "Lamir."
Agreed, they have never dared to cross the equator from their South
American stronghold, but there's always a first time.
Alaric Wulf,
Meena's new partner and an alpha demon hunter, will have to use
his considerable skills to not only keep his new sidekick safe,
but also help blunt this new threat that endangers the Palatine
itself. Father Henrique Mauricio, the Church's top Lamir expert,
also factors into this equation as does the grand opening of a new
exhibit of Vatican art at the Met that may be quite memorable in
ways the church fathers never imagined!
Once Meg Cabot
slips Overbite into overdrive, you'll discover it is so
engrossing you can't set it down. So be forewarned! Once she sets
her hook you'll belong to Cabot until you reach the final paragraph
on page 275.
