Without a doubt Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors. I've greatly enjoyed her Queen of Babble series, The Princess Diaries series, and The Mediator series. The Heather Wells mystery series is also a favorite. It's been a long time since the last book in the series was released, "(Big Boned" in 2007), but the wait was worth it.

Heather Wells lost her teen pop star status after she gained some weight. She dumped her then boyfriend, Jordan Cartwright, and found herself at New York College, working as assistant residence hall director at Fischer Hall. Her job isn't easy, but Heather isn't afraid of a challenge.

Yet she is by no means prepared or expecting the onslaught of drama and murder that is about to take center stage. You see, her ex-boyfriend Jordan's pregnant new wife, Tania, is using the summer to host a teen rock camp at the college. If Heather thought dealing with college students was bad, teenage girls in training to be pop stars brings a whole new level of aggravation. Jordan and Tania are also the subjects of a new reality show, being filmed in the Penthouse of Fischer Hall. After Tania's bodyguard is shot, and then an Assistant Producer of the show is poisoned it becomes clear that Tania is the real target.

Between teen angst, adult angst, murder and mayhem, there is time for romance between Heather and fiancé Cooper Cartwright. With her usual quick wit and sharp dialogue, Cabot has produced another winner. She has found a way to appeal to younger readers as well as those of us over 35. "Size 12 and Ready to Rock" is a thick book, weighing in at nearly 400 pages. There's a lot of action packed into each chapter and it is a rollicking fast ride of a read. Get your copy, head for the beach and get lost in this fast-paced, fun-filled summer read.
