A
Book of Verses Volume One
By
Samantha V. Lee
In
her publishing debut, A Book of Verses Volume One, sixteen
year old Samantha V. Lee treats readers to a collection of more
than 90 poems. Primarily free verse, her anthology encompasses a
variety of emotions. "Meadow of Wildflowers" and "White
Crayon" beautifully illustrate lament. "Moving On"
shows hope. An overwhelming majority of her verses focus on loss
and grief, but she usually deals delicately with the subjects. The
eight parts of "The Unexpected Death" comprises commendable,
compassionate portrayals of survivors' emotions after a loved one
commits suicide.
Ms.
Lee, a resident of Vancouver, Washington hopes her collection triggers
readers emotions. I have no doubt young readers will identify with
her observations on life. Older readers may appreciate the candor
with which she explores the emotional upheavals of adolescence.
This author shows precocious insight and ability. Angsty and original,
poignant and promising, Ms. Lee is an emerging talent on the poetic
horizon. I anxiously await Volume Two.
