Behind the Bit
Canterwood Crest #3
by Jessica Burkhart
It's midwinter and while nearly all the other students have gone home for break, Sasha Silver
is invited to take part in an equestrian clinic. The clinic demands every bit of Sasha's attention,
but does she have it to give, when she's still reeling from major blow-ups with her best friend
and her hope-to-be boyfriend? Then when "frenimy" Allison becomes almost her only friend, Sasha
knows she's got trouble. I really enjoy these Canterwood Crest novels. They're lively and fun
and super fast reading. Plus the mean girls are so deliciously mean without the kind of
age-inappropriate antics you can find in older girl novels. Also, Jessica Burkhart does a strong
job of making all the horse drills and riding sections clear and understandable even to the most
uninformed reader. When I can follow the action in a competitive sport about which I know nothing,
then I know the author did a good job. This book offers all the conflict, tension, and romance any
tween could want—I recommend it to the horse lover in your house. |
