My Rotten Life
Nathan Abercrombie Accidental Zombie
by David Lubar
Nathan Abercrombie is a Second Bester—he hangs with the kids who aren't quite enough of
anything to be popular or doomed. They ride right in the middle where Nathan gets too much of
the wrong kind of attention. The girl he's liked forever crushes his heart, the class bully
decides to zero in on Nathan, and he's picked dead last for gym. Just when things couldn’t get
much worse, an accident turns him into a zombie. And only teaming up with one of the Doomed, a
weird girl named Abigail, can save him from staying a zombie forever. Now after all that creepy
description, this is a comedy in the wacky unpredictable style that is totally David Lubar. No
burp goes unburped in the search for the perfect reader giggle. The humor here is unabashedly
lowbrow but totally charming anyway. This book definitely introduces us to the upside of being
half-dead. With its fast pace and clear writing, this is a great book for any reluctant reader
on your list. |
