The Home Run Kid Races On
A Matt Christopher Sports Book
by Matt Christopher
Fourth in the series about home run slugger Sylvester Coddmyer the Third, The Home Run
Kid Races On is a baseball story with a mystery. For three seasons, Syl has been coached
by men who look exactly like baseball legends Babe Ruth, Eddie Cicotte, and Mickey Mantle.
Snooky Malone is pretty sure that they are really those sports greats coming back from "beyond."
Syl is not so sure, but who is this new guy in a uniform from the past? No matter how they try,
Duane and Snooky never manage to actually see these guys who coach Slylvester. Then Syl begins
to suspect that one of his secret coaches is also helping a guy on the rival's team. Syl is
furious...how could Mr. Baruth do that?
Mr. Teacy is hard to please as he shows Syl that home runs aren't always the answer. Sometimes
bunting, and just helping your teammates get runs works too, and Syl works hard to perfect those
skills.
Matt Christopher Sports stories can always be counted on for spellbinding stories with fast
action, compelling characters, and just the right amount of humor. The Home Run Kid Races On
would be a great addition to your reluctant reader's library. |
