Patterson
and Grabenstein bring young readers the third book in their
children's travel adventure. The Kidd family enjoys life on
their ship because they are treasure hunters. Mom and dad
have always included their children on the treasure hunts,
so it makes sense when the parents are kidnapped that the
children have the skill and knowledge to hunt them down. Bick
explains that he is the writer of this story and gives credit
to his twin sister Rebecca (Beck) for the illustrations. (The
audio version includes PDF files for listeners to enjoy.)
Their genius sister Storm and cool older brother Tommy also
join in this voyage. Everyone has a vital part in this adventure.
The Kidd siblings know their parents are CIA super spies,
so they know to move with caution. On this trip, the family
heads to China to trade treasure for their mother. The Kidd
family meets various types of grownups (good/bad), search
for clues and face danger in the hopes of rescuing their parents.
It's an awesome adventure across the globe. This is number
three in the series, so I recommend starting with number one.
The audio version is read by Bryan Kennedy. Kennedy narrates
the Patterson's Middle School series, as well as many other
popular children's' series'. The Kidd brothers sound like
beach boys. The youthful narration garners excitement and
participation. Parents will be happy to hear their young readers
are learning as they read.
