Snake River Slaughter
The Last Mountain Man series

by William W. Johnstone with J.A. Johnstone

Another in the Matt Jensen: The Last Mountain Man series, this western adventure centers on Matt's attempt to help a woman whose livelihood is threatened when a relative tries to take over her property.

Kitty Wellington and Matt knew one another when they were children and now, years later, she needs her old friend's assistance. Kitty inherited her uncle's 20,000-acre ranch on the Snake River and the "killer" mortgage that went with the property.

The woman's plan to clear the mortgage is to sell thoroughbreds to the U.S. Army, but there are those who want to see her fail so the ranch can pass from Kitty's control.

Matt, the adopted son of mountain man Smoke Jensen, has acquired a reputation as a man who knows how to handle trouble when it comes his way. He's going to need every ounce of his savvy about degenerate human nature and dexterity with a gun to handle the mess he wades into when he agrees to help his old friend sort out her problems.

If you enjoy westerns and haven't discovered this series yet, it is probably time to saddle up with Matt Jensen. Once you meet Matt you'll want to follow all his adventures.
