The Civil War
is over and Texas is the next battleground as renegades, settlers,
carpetbaggers and opportunist scalawags roam the land and rule Austin.
Perhaps the worst of the towns that have been plunged into lawlessness
is Hangtree.
With the arrival
of Sam Heller, a former Yankee soldier and deadly marksman, and
Johnny Cross, a hired gun with aspirations for fame and fortune,
Hangtree is about to become even more dangerous than it was. With
rich grazing land and mineral wealth nearby, Hangtree has attracted
many fortune seekers . None, though, are as dangerous as Heller
and Cross.
Aligned on different sides of the law, these two men are willing
to fight for what they want and it is just a matter of time before
all hell breaks out in this town. Of course, as things get really
nasty, don’t be surprised if these two “opposites”
are forced to set their differences aside to survive the mayhem.
This new series featuring two unlikely heroes, a Yankee with a rifle
and an outlaw with a grudge, is off to a splendid start as it focuses
on a time when nothing on the frontier was certain except the fact
that any and all disputes would be either settled with a gun or
be resolved at the hanging tree.
