I’ve always been fascinated by people who work their magic behind the scenes, and Larron Tate is one of those incredible talents.
You might know him through his brother Larenz from movies like Love Jones, but Larron has his own achievements in Hollywood that I’ll talk about today. The man transformed from an aspiring actor to a producer and the creative mind behind TateMen Entertainment.

Larron Tate: Early Life & Talented Family
Larron grew up on the west side of Chicago. Born to Larry and Peggy Tate, he was raised in a household that would produce three entertainment industry icons.

Interestingly, if it weren’t for the family’s big move to California in 1984, ‘The Tate Brothers’ wouldn’t have been born.
The boys initially got involved with the Inner City Cultural Center’s drama program, and I’ve heard it was mostly just to meet girls. But, as fate would have it, they happened to see their classmate Malcolm-Jamal Warner land the role of Theo on The Cosby Show, and something clicked.
Suddenly, acting wasn’t about meeting girls anymore. It became a serious career path!
Larron Tate’s Brothers: Lahmard J. Tate & Larenz Tate
Now this is an incredible trio of brothers. The entertainment world hit the jackpot with the Tate family.
First, there’s Lahmard J. Tate, born in 1970, who you might recognize from Barbershop or Don’t be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. He’s got an amazing energy on screen that just draws you in.
Then there’s the younger brother, Larenz Tate – the one from iconic movies, such as Love Jones and Power. What’s special about him is how he’s managed to maintain his incredible career since the ‘80s. Larenz is now married to Tomasina Parrott, and they’ve got four kids together.

The brothers are currently also business partners. Together, they created TateMen Entertainment where they managed to turn individual talents into an impressive collaboration.

Larron Tate: Career Achievements
Larron’s career path is pretty impressive. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in theater, film, and television, he didn’t stick to just one lane. Sure, he started as an actor but quickly evolved into this multifaceted entertainment professional.
Remember when he got into the 20th Century Fox Diversity Writing Program? It led him to write for Best Damn Sports Show, and before you knew it, he was landing writing gigs with Warner Brothers and Universal Studios.
As lead producer of TateMen Entertainment, he’s also been behind some cool projects. Business Ethics, Deuces, and Beta Tests are all part of his producing portfolio. Then there’s Bronzeville, a hit-scripted audio series.
