Author Henrik Tamm brings readers a fantasy story full of action & adventure and unique characters. Not only are young readers treated to a storyline packed with Steampunk atmosphere and gadgets as well as memorable characters like Rabbit, the tall blue bad guy with crimson eyes and Alfred the toymaker with his magical toys. Young readers can see key parts of the storyline in rich, colorful illustrations. The main character is Timmy, an orphan cat. Timmy and his gang (Simon the mink, pigs Casper & Jasper and Flora, the feline flyer) are determined to save their small town from Rabbit and his gang (Dobie & the wild boars; Gack & the Iguanas) who are kidnapping children and stealing their laughter. Young readers will be clamoring for more once the last page is turned. Luckily for them, Tamm leaves them with a hint about Timmy’s next adventure.

I have to say Kudos to the author for originality in his storyline, and his artwork moves well beyond classic children illustrations. As a series, Ninja Timmy has plenty of room to grow; all the characters have a story to tell and there are so many steampunk ideas to follow up on, especially when it comes to toys.

Author/ Illustrator Henrik Tamm is a best known for his illustrations on movies such as Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Halls, Sinbad, Narnia, Narnia 2, Kung Fu Panda and more. Ninja Timmy is his first children’s fantasy adventure in book form. It looks like he’s found his niche.
