Hollywood is coming to Sweet Briar, South Carolina. Acclaimed film
director, Warren Shoemaker, of England has selected the town square
for some location shoots for the movie "Memories of Autumn."
Locals will be able to audition to play extras, and the ladies of
the Sweet Briar Society Sewing Circle are very excited.
Victoria Sinclair, known as Tori, is the town librarian who happens
to have a penchant for getting involved in solving murders. Perhaps
she shouldn't be surprised that yet another killing has happened
in the small town of Sweet Briar. Tori loves her adopted town, her
library and her dear friends. In fact, she's engaged to be married
to her sweetheart, Milo a school teacher.
Tori is lucky enough to be cast in "Memories of Autumn",
and it is meaningful to her because she loves the book, and hopes
to see it brought to life in a movie. Leading actress, Anita Belise,
is murdered, and due to the nature of the killing, one of the Sweet
Briar Society Sewing Circle is a suspect. Given that Tori has been
successful in apprehending murderers in the recent past, she decides
to get to the heart of the matter, find the killer and save her
friend from murder charges.
As with previous books in this series, the murder is the main plot,
but the true meaning of friendship and of small town alliances are
given equal time. Casey writes in a manner that makes the reader
feel like a part of the story, a member of the sewing circle or
a patron of the library. This is book six in the series, and with
each book I've grown to love the characters more. A fun and quirky
cozy read, perfect for a lazy afternoon with a cup of tea and your
sewing projects at hand. There are even some sewing tips at the
back of the book.
