Well, I hope
the next in the series turns out to be a little more fulfilling
than this one. I found it hard to get into and I had to put it down
and pick it up several times to actually get through it. Just when
the action gets going, there is a flashback.
Flashbacks
serve a purpose but in this book, there are just too many for the
flow of the story. In fact, I felt interrupted each time one would
start. It was annoying because just when I was getting into the
action, the author would start a flashback and halt the intensity.
I have to admit
I am not a fantasy follower, but a good one can overtake that negative
if it grabs me in the beginning. Unfortunately, this one lacked
something for me. I know for all his fans, and thirty years of writing
the Riftwar Cycle, I will be the only one to disagree, so if you
are into his works and love the sagas, don’t pay any attention
to my review. Read this latest entry for yourself, enjoy it, and
write and tell me how much you liked it in spite of my bad review.
