Abby Knight is a florist who has agreed to attend a convention of funeral directors to try to drum up more
business for herself. She's sharing a booth with her good friends, the Doves, who are funeral directors
themselves.
The convention is run by Sybil Blount, who is not well liked, and universally known for groping every younger
man in sight. So when Sybil turns up dead in a decorated casket at the convention, it is sure to lead to nothing
but trouble for Abby.
It's not like Abby doesn't already have her hands full, what with fending off the prankster brothers Ross and
Jess Urban, and keeping Sybil from glad-handing her boyfriend, Marco.
Now she faces disaster when her friend, Delilah Dove, is accused of murdering Sybil.
There are many characters in this brisk and funny book, including Eli who's been thrown out of the funeral
business for promoting burying people in bio-degradable burlap sacks rather than caskets, and Chet Sunday, the
TV personality from the Make It Easy do-it-yourself building show.
Abby is a great character. Marco is funny and sexy. The secondary characters are not mere straw constructions,
but lovingly developed people.
The plot is complicated with many suspects and lots of reasons to believe any of them would have done harm
to the annoying Sybil. It is resolved in a believable way, and felt satisfying in the end.
