Marcy Singer is getting
ready for Christmas. She’s helping the customers in
her embroidery shop, the Seven-Year Stitch, and she’s
even agreed to help her dear friend, Captain Moe, by playing
Elf to his Santa at the local hospital where there are plenty
of sick children who need some uplifting of their spirits.
The first day is a joy, despite the children being ill; their
faces light up and Marcy’s Irish wolfhound, Angus, is
an extra big hit with the kids.
Then
hospital administrator Sandra Vincent is brutally stabbed
to death, and after Captain Moe discovers the body, the police
declare him to be the prime suspect and he’s taken into
custody. Although he is released on bail, Marcy and her friends,
including her policeman boyfriend Ted, set out to clear Captain
Moe’s name and bring the real killer to justice.
This
is one of my favorite mystery series, and although it always
seems as though it is too long between books, I am amazed
that this is already the tenth in the series! Somehow, Amanda
Lee works her magic book after book and the series just keeps
getting better and better.
As usual,
the mystery is very well plotted and I didn’t guess
who the guilty party was until nearly the end of the book.
I love that Marcy’s friends, Sadie and Blake, Vera and
Riley and Todd play a part in helping Marcy. Watching the
development of Marcy’s relationship with Ted’s
family was interesting, too, especially as his sister, Tiffany,
slowly but surely warms up to Marcy. Angus remains a delightful
character, a big dog with a big heart full of love. The romance
between Ted and Marcy has progressed exactly as it should
and I am eagerly anticipating the next book already!
You just
can’t go wrong with an Embroidery Mystery by Amanda
Lee. You will find yourself engrossed from the first page
to the last, and although each book is fine as a stand alone,
I highly recommend that you read the whole series. This book
is a great read, full of engaging characters and a finely-honed
mystery. Run to your bookstore or online merchant and get
your copy today!
