The
Tanaka girls are back again in the third novel of the Heroine
series. Beatrice Tanaka longs for her place in the superhero
team, presently made up of her big sister Evie and her big
sister’s best friend Aveda Jupiter. Bea has always felt
like the extra, the little sister baggage that Evie and Aveda
reluctantly carry, but she’s sure she can be so much
more. And then she is sucked into a new demon threat, one
that might involve Bea and Evie’s dead mom and might
just be giving Bea lots of new oomph to her powers. So is
all this new weirdness good or bad? Only the most kick-ass
superheroines can figure that one out. This story will resonate
with anyone who has ever struggled with being taken seriously
by those they love. Honestly, I love these lively and sometimes
zany adventure books. As with the first two of the series,
this one is a tasty mix of funny, touching, and spicy, hot
romance. Now, I’m normally more than a little annoyed
by romances “tacked on” to novels, but the romances
in this series are made of deeper stuff and decidedly refreshing.
Though a reader can certainly jump into the series with this
third book without being confused, there will be so much more
there if you begin at the beginning and wolf down all three
in a row.
