Alex Cross has reached a very good place in his life. He is celebrating his birthday with
the family and friends that he holds dear and Bree, the woman he is deeply in love with. Then
the telephone rings. Many years ago Alex had a brother with a drug problem. This brother
distanced himself from the family and later died. His wife took his small daughter, moved away,
and lost all contact with the remaining family.
Now on the other end of the phone is news of this niece and it's not good. After
discovering what has happened to her, which is quite horrific, Alex vows to find the person
responsible.
Along with the search for what may be a very high profile serial murder, Alex’s grandmother,
the beloved Nana, is struck seriously ill. The question is, can Alex solve this crime and still
be at Nana's side?
Alex follows the trail of this death from the hills of Virginia, and a very high priced
Gentleman’s Club, to the halls of the White House itself.
James Patterson never fails to entertain. The short chapters and reoccurring
characters make each book a pleasure to read and an effort not to
read all in one setting. I can never dislike a James Patterson book,
especially one that features all the old friends I have made while
reading other books by him. With this book we learn more about Alex’s
past and see where his future may be going.
